Lane County Public Works is hiring two Road Maintenance Operators to join our Road & Bridge Maintenance team—one on our Bridge Crew and one on our Cottage Grove Crew. About the Position In this role, you’ll help keep our communities connected by building, repairing, and maintaining the roads, bridges, and transportation infrastructure that thousands of residents rely on every day. This is hands‑on, skilled work that takes place outdoors year‑round, operating various equipment and collaborating closely with a dedicated team. Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain heavy equipment for road construction and maintenance.
• Perform road repair and construction tasks, including grading, paving, and bridge work.
• Inspect and report on road conditions and traffic safety.
• Collaborate with crew members to complete projects efficiently and safely.

Qualifications Two years of experience with road maintenance equipment, including semi‑skilled and skilled tasks. Formal or informal education ensuring reading and writing at a level necessary for job performance. Valid Oregon Class A CDL with required endorsements and medical card. Ability to learn and grow skills in a dynamic environment. Schedule Monday – Thursday, 6:30 am – 5:00 pm (shift changes per operational needs). Licensing Requirements Possession of a valid Oregon Class A CDL, with required endorsements and medical card. A CDL with a fifth wheel restriction is acceptable.
