Job Description

Quad in Winchester, VA is seeking candidates with mechanical experience to become Press Rolltenders. A Rolltender's primary responsibility is to consistently load rolls of paper onto a printing press. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: Understanding standard operating procedures of the department Coordinating plates and tickets for upcoming jobs and hanging paper according to job tickets Inspecting rolls of paper for blemishes or tears and cutting away any damage Setting up and making splices, bending and hanging plates, as well as hanging blankets and assisting with webbing up the press Ensuring the correct ink is available for the job and checking ink fountains regularly Setting folds during make-readies and checking trim sheets to proof; completing necessary roll reports and paperwork accurately Communicating effectively with the plate room and paper warehouse; coordinating the changing of ink, etch, and silicone totes as needed Washing up the press and assisting with preventative maintenance Qualifications Candidates with previous jogger/entry-level experience are a plus Strong mechanical abilities and previous knowledge of presses and roll stands are a plus Ability to perform basic math calculations is essential Good verbal and written comprehension skills are required Must be able to thrive in a team environment and work independently with minimal supervision This position requires the ability to bend and lift 10-20 pounds continuously, lift up to 70 pounds occasionally, stand for long hours, and use hands and wrists continuously. Visual acuity is necessary to identify defects. The role involves performing repetitious tasks in a fast-paced environment, with or without reasonable accommodations. #J-18808-Ljbffr Quad
