Job Description

Join a dynamic healthcare organization in the Pacific Northwest region as an Administrator overseeing Health Information Management (HIM) and coding operations. This leadership role involves planning, organizing, and standardizing HIM and coding processes to ensure regulatory compliance and optimal departmental performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the HIM/Coding department, ensuring timely and accurate execution of tasks and maintaining appropriate staffing and competency levels.
  • Oversee the preparation, scanning, indexing, and quality review of medical records, collaborating with clinical and administrative staff to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensure precise ICD-10, HCPCS, and CPT coding for diagnoses and procedures, both concurrently and retrospectively, meeting departmental goals and KPIs.
  • Partner with Finance, Revenue Cycle, Quality, Compliance, and Security teams to uphold privacy laws and maintain EMR integrity through monitoring and auditing.
  • Stay current with regulatory changes, compliance issues, and industry best practices through ongoing education and training.
  • Develop and monitor department performance indicators, generate reports, and recommend strategies for improvement.
  • Foster a collaborative and trusting work environment, providing leadership, coaching, and performance management.
  • Drive innovation and manage change effectively, adapting workflows to optimize productivity and efficiency.
  • Participate actively in strategic planning and align departmental goals with organizational objectives.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in coding or HIM management.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) required.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary health information management practices and medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with hospital and clinic operations and healthcare compliance regulations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and intermediate skills in data mining, analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences.
  • Effective leadership, facilitation, delegation, and coaching capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and solve problems using sound judgment.
